Job Description
The Engineer, Level 1, at Westin New Orleans is a critical role responsible for maintaining the property in optimal condition with minimal inconvenience to customers and employees. This position involves a variety of tasks related to air conditioning, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Make repairs to the hotel's air conditioning system, including changing filters and cleaning coils.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, electrical components, etc.
- Take readings on equipment, test cooling towers, and replace televisions as necessary.
- Repair and maintain plumbing systems, troubleshoot kitchen equipment, and perform furniture repairs.
- Be proficient in reading blueprints and wiring diagrams, and ensure compliance with local and Federal codes.
- Paint designated areas, repair and finish sheet rock and wall coverings, and program hotel electronic lock systems.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required; related experience in a hotel setting preferred.
- Trade school or college coursework in a relevant field is beneficial.
- Ability to exert physical effort, communicate effectively, and provide courteous service to guests and colleagues.
- Must be able to multitask, solve problems efficiently, and maintain confidentiality.
- City of New Orleans licensure and certifications in Boiler and A/C are mandatory.
